Your Academic Journey

Junior College equips students with the skills needed for further education, while also helping them develop personal skills and confidence alongside studying for their GCSE’s.

Students choose a specialist programme in either Catering or Sport, gaining practical, hands-on experience in each field.

In Catering, students learn essential culinary skills, food safety, and the basics of menu planning.

In Sport, they focus on physical fitness, teamwork, and principles of sports coaching.

Both specialisms are led by industry-experienced staff and are designed to inspire students, build confidence, and raise aspirations for their future.

Megan's Junior College Experience

We spoke to Megan about her time studying with the Junior College and why she thinks other young people should consider this route over tradition schooling. Here’s what she had to say:

“Junior College is full of supportive and engaging teachers who will really boost your confidence and give you a ‘can do attitude’. Add that to the equipment and facilities the College has to offer, and you’ll be able to succeed.

EKC Broadstairs Junior College has helped me massively on my journey to success and I will always be grateful.”

Megan, Junior College student

“I was immediately interested in coming to the Junior College when I found out I’d get a proper, vocational qualification at the end of the two years, so I could immediately start working in the Catering industry. The support at the College also great, I feel like the staff care about their students a lot more.

Sophia
Catering and Hospitality Specialism

“I chose to come to the Junior College because I think it will benefit me later in life and help me get into the industry I’m passionate about. I am really passionate about sport, so having the opportunity to focus on just that one specialism will help me get ahead in the future.”
