The Student Celebration Day and annual Soapbox races on Wednesday 2 July started at 10:30 am with the annual soapbox races and lasted all day with fun activities in every corner of the campus.

The Student Experience Officer, Sean, organized the events that brought a mix of music, food, and fun activities to the heart of the College.

The day kicked off with a soap box derby, as students lined the road to cheer on the racers. Each go-kart had been built by the students themselves, ready to go head-to-head in a thrilling race to see who could complete the track fastest.

Prizes were given to first, second, and third place for the fastest drivers as well as Biggest Ouch, Best Looking, Most Comedic, and the Old Man Award.

Newly elected Student Union President, Mimi, commented “Something that stood out to me was that even when people fell in the race, attendees continued to encourage them and helped them up if they fell. I’m so happy we were all there to cheer them on.”

The event was a perfect send-off to the academic year, giving all of our staff and students a chance to celebrate together.

Thank you to Sean and his team of student ambassadors for their hard work behind the scenes, and for the Automotive staff for setting up and organizing our soapbox races. You all made it a memorable end to the 2024-2025 academic year.
