Students have been celebrating today after receiving their GCSE and Level 2 results, marking the culmination of months of hard work and determination.
The atmosphere on campus was full of excitement as learners collected their grades, many achieving results that will propel them to the next step in their education or career.
For some, this means progressing to higher-level courses here at EKC Broadstairs College, while others are preparing to begin Apprenticeships or move into employment.
We caught up with some of our successful students to hear their thoughts and what they’re off to do next.
Dolly achieved Grade 5s in both Maths and English GCSE and is now heading to EKC Canterbury College Sixth Form to study Law, Psychology and Criminology.
Reflecting on her time at EKC Broadstairs College, Dolly said: “It was so good. The people were amazing and the support was so good.”
Having also been part of Junior College, Dolly highlighted the difference the additional support had made to her experience.
She added: “It was so much better than a regular or mainstream school. We got a lot more support than anywhere else.”
When asked what advice she would give to other young people considering Junior College, Dolly said: “Just get your head down. The exams aren’t far away and, as long as you focus hard, you’ll do it.”
Meanwhile, Vaclav is set to head to EKC Margate Digital Campus, to study VFX after achieving a Distinction in Level 2 Media and passing his Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.
Vaclav said: “Do what you love and do what your interests are.”
Speaking about his journey at College, Vaclav said the support he received and the creative projects he worked on during his Media course were highlights of his time at College, including creating his Film and Media project and developing his own language for a story.
Ciara studied GCSE English at College and received a 5 today.
Speaking about what she enjoys at College, Ciara said: “I would say probably the freedom compared to being in secondary school. You get treated more maturely. I found it good and I had a good English teacher in my classroom.”
Ciara is now set to continue her studies at our Margate Digital Campus, where she will study the T Level in Computing.
Speaking about her next steps, Ciara said: “I’m so excited! I’ve seen the Campus and it looks so good.”
Meanwhile, Oscar achieved a Grade 4 in Maths and is looking forward to studying Sport at College, with ambitions to pursue a career in sports journalism.
Speaking about his experience at College, Oscar said: “The tutors are all really nice, they treat you almost like friends rather than teachers, and everyone is really friendly.”
Maddie achieved a Grade 6 in English and Grade 4 in Maths and is set to continue her studies at EKC Margate Digital Campus, where she will study Content Creation.
Speaking about her favourite things about Junior College, Maddie said: “Meeting friends, the support and your tutors. The support has been great. I’ve made a ton of friends. It’s been good.”
We would like to congratulate all our students on their outstanding achievements and wish them every success for their future endeavours.
