Staff Spotlight: Ankur Goel, Programme Director – Engineering

As Programme Director for Engineering, Ankur brings a unique blend of industry experience and passion for education to his role.  

Ankur thrives from empowering young people and shaping future engineers, read on to hear about his journey into education and what he enjoys most about the role: 

After starting his career in the engineering sector, Ankur discovered his true calling in education whilst mentoring colleagues and sharing technical knowledge. That passion quickly evolved, leading him to join EKC Broadstairs College, a place he describes as collaborative, innovative, and deeply student focused. 

“Although I hadn’t always envisioned a career in education, the satisfaction of helping students grow and succeed solidified my decision to pursue this path.” 

During his career, Ankur has taken advantage of a variety of professional development opportunities, including a teaching apprenticeship and leadership programmes. These have equipped him with the tools to deliver an engaging curriculum and allowed him to better support both students and colleagues. 

Ankur is particularly proud of leading a cross-departmental project that brought advanced robotics technology into the computing curriculum, bridging practical engineering with digital innovation. But what truly stands out for Ankur is watching students progress into higher education and successful apprenticeships. 

“These moments underscore the impact of innovation and dedication in shaping both student success and the department’s growth.” 

At the heart of Ankur’s role is a passion for unlocking student potential and helping them turn curiosity into successful careers. EKC Broadstairs College, he says, provides the perfect environment to do just that.
