VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing

To study this course you should have:

At least six GCSEs and an average grade of 5, including English and Maths at grade 4 or above.

OR

A Level 2 in my chosen subject and GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.

All assessments are designed to ensure you can demonstrate your practical ability and understanding of professional hairdressing techniques.

You’ll be assessed with practical observations in our salons, alongside written assignments and online tests that check your knowledge and understanding.

Throughout the course, you’ll also build a portfolio of your work, giving you a visual record of your progress and achievements that you can use for future opportunities.

After completing the Level 3 course, you’ll be a qualified hairdresser and ready to start work, either self-employed, or in a salon.

You may also choose to progress onto further study, such as a Level 4 course or a specialised apprenticeship, where you’ll further enhance existing skills.

Previous students have also gone to university, in related areas such as theatrical makeup.

From taking part in College events to visiting major industry expos such as Salon International, you’ll experience a range of trips and opportunities that deepen your understanding of hairdressing.

By getting involved in events and working with local partners, you’ll explore further specialisms in hair and beauty.

There’s also the opportunity to take part in social action projects across the campus during our Community Weeks. These activities not only boost your personal growth but are an opportunity to give back and impact Thanet for the better.

Previous Community Week activities have included fundraising events, creating makeup looks for local performances, and offering free treatments for care-home residents.
