Course overview


Do you want to work with children in the sports and leisure sector? This
could be the perfect course for you.  During the course, you will develop
the knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours needed to work with
children in sport and physical activity settings.


This qualification maps to the CIMSPA professional standards for Working in
the School Environment and will provide direct entry into the workplace as a
sports and activity leader.


This course is suitable for students who
have achieved
 a 4/C grade in English and
Maths.

Course information


Throughout the course, you will develop the
skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work as a children’s sports
activity leader.


You will learn:




  • How people participate in sport and
    physical activity


  • About job roles and career pathways
    within the sport and active leisure industry


  • The personal skills and professional
    behaviours expected in the workplace


  • How schools operate and how the
    National Curriculum links to children’s sport


  • The role and responsibilities of a
    children’s sports leader within an organisation


  • How to plan, deliver and review
    children’s sports activity sessions


  • Key legislation, safeguarding
    procedures, health and safety requirements, and industry
    guidance

Alongside your
studies, 
you’ll complete a tailored
work experience placement with a leading industry specialist. Our dedicated
Industry Liaison Officers will match you with a placement that supports your
interests and career goals, with many students going on to secure paid work as a
result.


You will also develop transferable skills
such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, self-management, literacy and
numeracy, which will support your future studies and
employment.
